Flashback Tuesday

We have done a lot of traveling over Thanksgiving breaks in the past.  In fact, in almost 20 years of marriage, I've only cooked a turkey twice!  When we lived in Atlanta, the Scout Master's parents invited us to come with them on some of their Thanksgiving trips.

Shortly after we were married, they purchased a timeshare in Hilton Head, SC and we made the beach our Thanksgiving tradition for a few years.

There's something about sand, golf, and having someone else cook dinner that is oddly appealing for me at Thanksgiving.

Last year we stayed at home for Thanksgiving break (which is 9 whole days for us now that we live in TX) and we were SO restless.  We invited a few neighbors and friends and the missionaries over for dinner and had a GREAT time, but it wasn't quite the same as traveling or being with family.   It turns out we kinda like being on the road for this holiday.  I'm so grateful to have made so many amazing memories on those trips, and I look forward to a few more Thanksgiving road trips before my little flock starts to fly out of this nest.
