This week was a great week! We had lots of appointments, ate tons and tons of food, and talked to EVERYONE we saw on the street! I'm really finding that I love the people here more and more as I talk to them more. Yes there are definitely the rude or mean people on the street, but the happy and kind people are the ones I remember! I've realized more and more each day that I'm not out to try and convince people why they should join my church. I'm looking for the people that the Lord has already prepared! We are giving people a chance to recognize that we are servants of the Lord, and to prick their hearts with the truth, but ultimately they have their agency and if it's not the right time then they will have another chance! The one thing that is super discouraging though is when our investigators keep cancelling appointments, or never come to church :(
Christmas was super awesome :) we had lots of good food and played games and opened our packages from home, but the only part I honestly cared about was skyping my family! It was the best Christmas present of all! I was worried that it might distract me or make me even more homesick, but I said a prayer and Heavenly Father definitely blessed me because it made me even happier than I already was and more motivated!
So I just want to end with our new little spiritual thought we are sharing with people this week. Now that Christmas is over, more and more people are focused on the New Year coming! (I can't believe how fast this past year has flown by... I remember starting at BYU seriously like it was yesterday!) But anyway, while we should all take the time to ponder the wonderful memories we have from this past year, we should also take the time to make some new goals and take advantage of this fresh start we have! Most people think of the New Year as the only time they really try to make goals and to change, but just a reminder, through the atonement, every single day can be like New Year! Make a New Years resolution every day if you want!
There's a super awesome Mormon message that we are sharing called "Look Not Behind Thee" and I challenge all of you to watch it! It's only like three minutes long so you basically have no excuse not to watch it. (haha) It talks about how we should move forward with hope and faith in the future, and not turn back to our past mistakes, habits,or negative feelings. Resolve today to make every step you take a step towards our Savior, Jesus Christ! And don't forget to have the Christmas spirit with you always as well, because having the true Christmas spirit means that you are thinking about Christ! Every day can be New Year's and every day can be Christmas! :) how awesome!!
Love y'all!
